Flow.
“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself…” 1 Cor. 6:19
I don’t know about you, but the older I get the more my body seems to be breaking down and falling apart. My sister and I laugh a lot about when we turned forty. Out of the clear blue we became allergic to certain things we had been around forever. Our knees, hips and other parts of our bodies that never caused us pain before began to ache. It was if the universe had begun to conspire against us when we hit that bless-ed age.
The truth is that as we age we do begin to experience our bodies in different ways. These twinges remind us that we are no longer teenagers and that the sometimes senseless wear and tear we put on our bodies in the past might not have been such a great idea.
But now that we are wiser, and prayerfully more loving of ourselves and our maturing bodies, we can really take a look at what it means to care for and love ourselves fully; tweaks and all! Our bodies, no matter how young or seasoned, say flow, take your time, and move in the Spirit.
Enjoy the miracle of your temple. Whether you’re climbing mountains or taking a leisurely stroll, be kind to yourself so your body can give you what you need for the rest of your life.
